For the parent who is still searching for the most effective way to support and love your child:
Let's face it, parenting can be hard. No one sits us down before we become parents and teaches us the best way to do things. Oftentimes, it feels like we're figuring all this out on our own.
Maybe there was a way things were done when you were a kid, but do you ever question the way things have "always" been?
Do you ever catch yourself sounding just like YOUR mother or father? And is that who you want to be for YOUR child?
Are threats and timeouts and discipline and 1-2-3 CONSEQUENCE really the best way to do things?
It's not uncommon for parents to lose their calm. But what psychologists and parenting experts have found is that the source of frustration we experience as parents isn't actually coming from our child.
It's coming from OUR inner child.
And we all have an inner child that was told to just suck it up and that our feelings didn't matter and it wasn't okay to want what we wanted. We all have an inner child that was hurt while growing up.
And until we can deeply heal that inner child and return to a place of deep love and acceptance, we're unable to show up as the evolved parent that our child so desperately needs.
So instead of worrying about parenting tactics and timeouts and ways of enforcing things, the first thing you should do for your child is learn how to nurture and accept your Inner Child. It's only then that we can see their Inner Child and love and support them as they really need.
That's when we're able to break free of generational parenting patterns and truly show up for our children with a love and acceptance that allows them to be seen and heard.
There's a beautiful connection that is then formed and constantly deepens while both the parent's and the child's Inner Child are healed.
Doing this work is what it means to be an Evolved Parent.
